βœ… Who Should Take This Course?

  • Florida certified pest control operators whose certificate carries both the General Household Pest and the Termite and Other Wood-Destroying Organisms categories
  • Operators who also hold Lawn and Ornamental or Fumigation and want Core, GHP, and Termite done in one sitting (2 more hours per extra category still needed)
  • Limited Structural (LS) certificate holders (governmental or private-property structural applicators)

If you hold only the General Household Pest category, choose our 4 Hour General Household Pest Control CEU Course instead.

βœ… Does This Course Satisfy the State Requirement?

Operators holding exactly GHP and Termite: yes. Florida requires 2 Core hours plus 2 hours in each category held, and this program delivers 2 Core + 2 GHP + 2 Termite, the complete annual requirement.

Operators who also hold Lawn and Ornamental or Fumigation: 2 approved hours remain per additional category; with GHP, Termite, and L&O, our 8 Hour Multi-Category course covers all 8 hours.

Limited Structural (LS) holders: LS recertification requires 4 hours every 4 years (2 Core + 2 category). This program provides 2 Core hours plus 4 hours requested for Limited Structural, covering the full LS requirement if FDACS approves the categories as requested.

This course is not the 40-hour initial training for an employee identification card, and until FDACS approval is posted here, do not rely on these hours for a renewal.

βœ… Florida Pest Control Operator CE Requirements

Under Chapter 482, Florida Statutes, an operator certificate is issued for one year and is renewed by completing approved CE or passing the department's examination:

Certificate typeCycleCE required to renew
Certified pest control operatorEvery year2 Core hours + 2 hours in each category held
Operator holding GHP + TermiteEvery year6 hours (2 Core + 2 GHP + 2 Termite)
Limited Structural (LS) certificateEvery 4 years4 hours (2 Core + 2 category)

Core hours cover legislation, safety, labeling, and IPM; category hours must come from a program FDACS approved for that category. The provider enters attendees in the FDACS CEU database within two weeks; keep your Record of Attendance until renewal is complete.

How this course helps: This 6-hour program provides 2 Core hours, 2 General Household Pest hours, and 2 Termite and Other WDO hours. For an operator holding exactly those two categories, it is designed to complete the entire annual requirement, with no hours left to earn. An operator who also holds Lawn and Ornamental or Fumigation still needs 2 hours per additional category. A Limited Structural holder receives the 2 Core hours and more than the 2 category hours needed every 4 years, if FDACS approves the categories as requested.

βœ… When Do Licensees Renew?

An operator certificate expires one year after it was issued, so your renewal date is the anniversary of your issue date, not a fixed statewide date. Apply on or before that anniversary; FDACS may not renew until the CE or exam requirement is met. A grace period of up to 30 calendar days follows, after which a $50 late charge is added; the grace period does not extend the CE requirement.

A Limited Structural certificate expires 4 years after issuance; an LS holder who does not renew within 60 days after expiration must be reexamined.

βœ… How to Renew Your Operator Certificate

  1. Check your record. Confirm your certificate number, categories, and anniversary date in the FDACS AES licensing portal or on your renewal notice.
  2. Add up your hours. 2 Core plus 2 per category: two categories means 6 hours, three means 8.
  3. Complete FDACS-approved CE before you apply. Finish every hour, pass the exam, and save the emailed Record of Attendance.
  4. Allow reporting time. Your provider enters your attendance within two weeks; confirm your credits in the FDACS CEU database.
  5. Renew in the FDACS AES licensing portal. Review your name, address, business, and categories, confirm your CE, and pay the renewal fee set by FDACS rule (currently $150 for an operator certificate).
  6. Save your receipt and verify that your certificate shows an active status with the new expiration date.
