This two-hour course is designed to satisfy the variable life insurance policies training required by California Insurance Code section 1749.81(b) before each license renewal for a life agent who sells individual variable life insurance policies. The two hours also count toward the 24 hours of continuing education California requires each two-year license term. The course covers variable life and variable universal life product design, the separate account and the assumed versus actual investment rate, dual regulation as a security and as insurance, the contract provisions California controls, the mandatory cover page disclosures and senior surrender charge notice, consumer appropriateness, selling in person and online, and documentation of the variable life transaction. Review questions follow each section and must be passed at 70 percent before the 10-question final examination unlocks.
