- Agents selling or planning to sell Partnership-qualified long-term care policies
- Life and health producers adding long-term care to their practice
- Producers advising older adults on Medicaid, spend-down, and asset protection

✅ Does This Course Satisfy the State Requirement?
This course provides 8 approved hours toward the 30 hours Nevada licensed resident insurance producers must complete. It does not satisfy the full requirement on its own, and it does not satisfy the separate 3-hour ethics requirement. You will need additional approved hours, including an approved ethics course, to complete your renewal.
✅ Nevada Continuing Education Requirements
Nevada resident insurance producers must complete 30 hours of approved continuing education within the three-year period before the date of renewal, and three of those hours must be in ethics. Under NAC 683A.330 the hours must be related to the line or lines of insurance for which the licensee holds a license, with the three ethics hours as a carve-out, so course category matters as much as hour count.
- 30 approved hours in the three-year period before renewal
- 3 of the 30 must be in ethics
- Hours must relate to a line of authority you hold; the 3 ethics hours are a carve-out
- Self-study, online, and correspondence courses must include a supervised final examination — NAC 683A.335, applying the self-study standards of NAC 683A.211
- Renewal is submitted electronically through Sircon
Nevada exempts some producers from CE entirely. Under NAC 683A.330 a producer holding a CPCU, CLU, CIC, CFP, or ChFC designation, or with 20 or more years of continuous insurance experience where insurance is the primary source of income, may qualify for an exemption. The exemption is not automatic — NAC 683A.330(3) requires a certification submitted to the Commissioner in a Commissioner-approved affidavit.
How this course helps: This 8-hour course contributes 8 of the 30 hours a Nevada resident producer must complete in the three-year period before renewal. It carries Health-line credit, not ethics credit, so the separate 3-hour ethics requirement must still be met with an approved ethics course. The remaining 22 hours must be completed within the same three-year period.
✅ When Do Licensees Renew?
Nevada producer licenses renew on a three-year cycle, and the 30 hours must be completed within the three-year period before the renewal date. The Division of Insurance emails a courtesy notice to the licensee's address of record roughly two months before expiration, but the deadline applies whether or not that notice arrives. Renewals are submitted electronically through Sircon, and a renewed license can be printed online free for 30 days after submission.
✅ How to Renew Your License
- Check your expiration date and CE posted to date — Look up your Nevada license record and confirm the expiration date and how many approved hours are already credited. Do not rely on the courtesy email alone.
- Confirm your lines of authority — Under NAC 683A.330 your hours must relate to a line of insurance you hold, with the 3 ethics hours as a carve-out. Check each course category against your license before enrolling.
- Complete 30 approved hours, including 3 in ethics — All 30 must fall inside the three-year period before renewal.
- Complete the supervised final examination — NAC 683A.335 requires an approved course to carry a written procedure for a supervised final examination, applying the self-study standards of NAC 683A.211. Arrange the proctor before your deadline, not after.
- Renew electronically through Sircon — Submit the renewal application and pay the renewal fee through Sircon, and review your contact and appointment information while you are there.
- Print and save your renewed license — Nevada allows a free online license printout for 30 days after submission. Save it and confirm the record shows an active status.
✅ What You Will Learn
- Distinguish long-term care from acute medical care, and explain settings of care and the activities-of-daily-living and cognitive benefit triggers
- Apply Medicaid financial eligibility rules — income and resource tests, countable versus exempt assets, spend-down, transfer rules, and look-back periods
- Explain the Partnership asset disregard, how dollar-for-dollar and total-asset models differ, and how the disregard affects estate recovery
- Compare traditional stand-alone long-term care policies with hybrid life and annuity designs on benefits, cost, and suitability
- Explain benefit design — daily and monthly maximums, benefit periods, elimination periods, pooled benefits — and the inflation protection standards a Partnership policy must satisfy
- Apply consumer protection and suitability standards for older adults, including required disclosures, the free-look period, replacement rules, and prevention of elder financial abuse
✅ Course Content Overview
Hour 1 – Purpose, Scope and Foundations of LTC and Partnership Programs
What long-term care is and the policy problem it addresses. Covers the NAIC Long-Term Care Model Act and Regulation, the federal framework behind the Partnership program, the stakeholders involved, and the training expectations for the initial eight-hour course and the ongoing four-hour refresher.
Hour 2 – Medicaid Eligibility, Spend-Down and Partnership Asset Disregards
Medicaid financial eligibility and the spend-down pathways a family faces without coverage. Covers the Partnership asset disregard and the difference between dollar-for-dollar and total-asset models, estate recovery, and the role of state Medicaid agencies together with the consumer disclosures Partnership policies require.
Hour 3 – LTC Insurance Basics: Policy Types, Benefits and Triggers
Traditional stand-alone policies contrasted with hybrid designs, and the benefit triggers — activities of daily living and cognitive impairment — that start a claim. Covers benefit amount, benefit period and elimination period design, the care settings and services covered, inflation protection options, and the optional features worth considering.
Hour 4 – Consumer Protections, Suitability and Ethical Sales to Older Adults
Required disclosures and the suitability standards that apply to every LTC sale. Covers ethical communication with seniors in clear language, replacement rules and how to compare existing coverage while preserving accrued benefits, prevention of unfair trade practices and elder financial abuse, and proper complaint handling.
Hour 5 – Underwriting, Pricing, Rate Stability and Claims
Medical underwriting basics and the premium factors that drive cost. Covers rate stability concepts and why increases occur, the options available to a policyholder facing a premium increase, and the claims process from notice of claim through care coordination, case management and the role of licensed practitioners.
Hour 6 – Tax Treatment, HIPAA-Qualified LTC and Coordination of Benefits
HIPAA tax-qualified LTC contracts and the requirements for benefit eligibility. Covers federal and common state tax treatment of premiums and benefits, interactions with Medicare, coordination with private health insurance, the coordination issues that arise with hybrids and multiple policies, and documentation practices for these discussions.
Hour 7 – Planning Integration, Affordability Strategies and Caregiver Dynamics
Integrating long-term care with retirement and estate planning, including realistic funding sources. Covers affordability levers such as adjusting benefit period, daily benefit and elimination period; household and caregiver considerations including respite benefits; plain-language trade-off discussions; responses to post-issue health changes; and building an annual review cadence.
Hour 8 – State Nuances, Advertising and Market Conduct, and Capstone Case Studies
State-specific Partnership nuances including reciprocity, and what counts as advertising under market conduct rules. Covers documentation mastery from needs-analysis summary through file retention, elder-justice safeguards and red-flag recognition, applied case studies with written rationales, and a final compliance checklist for Partnership sales.
