Florida community association managers renew on a two-year cycle and must complete 15 hours of approved continuing education during each renewal period. The requirement is set by Rule 61E14-4.001, Florida Administrative Code, and the hours are divided into five mandatory subject categories rather than a single open pool of credit. One hour of credit equals 50 minutes of approved instruction, and the same course does not earn credit twice in the same biennium.

Managers who provide services to homeowners' associations have an added obligation under Section 468.4337, Florida Statutes: at least 5 hours per renewal cycle pertaining specifically to homeowners' associations, with at least 3 of those hours relating to recordkeeping. Guidance differs on whether those 5 hours count inside the 15-hour total, so HOA managers should confirm their exact obligation with the DBPR before finalizing their course plan.

Two exemptions apply. Licensees who were first licensed within 24 months before the renewal date are generally exempt for that first cycle, and as of July 1, 2024 licensees who have held an active license continuously for at least 10 years with no discipline imposed are also exempt. Exempt licensees still have to renew and pay the renewal fee.
