- Wyoming licensed resident insurance agents renewing a license with property and casualty authority
- Producers who need 3 approved hours toward the 24-hour Wyoming requirement
- Agents who want current, practical workers comp essentials ce knowledge, not filler credit
- New producers building a working foundation in this coverage area
- Experienced agents refreshing before a renewal deadline
- Agency staff who support producers and want the same technical grounding
β Does This Course Satisfy the State Requirement?
This course provides 3 approved credit hours toward the 24-hour Wyoming continuing education requirement. It does not by itself satisfy the full renewal requirement, and it does not satisfy the 3-hour ethics requirement.
β Wyoming Continuing Education Requirements
Wyoming resident insurance producers complete 24 hours of approved continuing education each licensing period, and 3 of those hours must be focused on ethics. The licensing period is two years, ending on the last day of the licensee's birth month. Non-resident licensees comply with their home state's requirement instead β Wyoming imposes no additional continuing education on them.
- 24 hours of approved continuing education each two-year licensing period
- 3 of those 24 hours must be focused on ethics
- Applies to resident producers and to designated-home-state licensees, including adjusters, consultants, public adjusters, title agents and crop agents
- Non-residents follow their home state. There is no additional Wyoming continuing education requirement for a non-resident licensee
- Carryover is limited. Credits above the required 24 may be carried forward only if earned within 120 days of expiration, capped at 12 credits, and they count as general credit only β never as ethics
- Providers file completions electronically with the Department and have 15 days to do so, which is why the Department recommends finishing more than 30 days before expiration
- No extensions are available, and there is no grace period for continuing education reports
- As of January 1, 2023 the Department no longer assesses a continuing education fee to licensees
How this course helps: This 3-hour course provides 3 approved credit hours toward the 24 hours Wyoming requires each two-year cycle. It applies as general credit and does not satisfy the separate 3-hour ethics requirement, so at least 21 additional hours β including your 3 ethics hours β must be completed separately.
β When Do Licensees Renew?
Wyoming insurance producer licenses renew every two years on the last day of the month of your birthday. The Department's own example is a licensee born on July 4th whose license is approved on December 6, 2021 β that first renewal date is July 31, 2023. A first term is therefore often longer than 24 months, so confirm the exact date on your license record.
Renewal invoices are emailed approximately 90 days before the expiration date. There is no grace period for renewal applications, fees or continuing education reports, and no extensions are granted. Because approved providers have 15 days to file completions, the Department recommends finishing continuing education more than 30 days before the license expires.
β How to Renew Your License
Step 1: Confirm your expiration date
Wyoming licenses renew every two years on the last day of your birth month. Check the date on your license record rather than calculating it β a first term is often longer than 24 months.
Step 2: Watch for the renewal invoice
The Department emails renewal invoices roughly 90 days before the license expiration date. Make sure the email address on your record is current.
Step 3: Complete 24 hours, including 3 ethics hours
Only courses approved for Wyoming count. Finish more than 30 days before your expiration date, because providers have 15 days to file your completion and there is no grace period.
Step 4: Confirm your credits were filed
Providers file completions electronically with the Department. Check that all 24 hours appear, and that the ethics hours are recorded in the ethics category, before your expiration date.
Step 5: Submit the renewal through Sircon or NIPR
Wyoming accepts renewals through either system. Business entities must have at least one Designated Licensed Producer assigned in order to renew.
Step 6: Pay the renewal fee and save the receipt
Pay the state's renewal fee at submission and keep the confirmation.
Step 7: Verify the license shows active
Confirm the record shows an active status with an updated expiration date. A license renewed within twelve months of lapsing carries a reinstatement penalty in addition to the renewal fee; after twelve months the licensee is treated as a new applicant and must retest and re-fingerprint.
