According to the New Mexico Construction Industries Division (CID) and state statute:
✅ Who needs CE?
All journeyman plumbing and mechanical certificate holders must complete continuing education every three (3) years to renew.
✅ How many hours?
You must complete at least 16 hours of approved CE during each renewal cycle. Of these:
8 hours must be code-change or code-update instruction, and
8 hours may be additional code or other industry-related topics approved by CID.
✅ License term & renewal date
Journeyman Certificates of Competence typically expire every three years on the last day of the month of issuance.
✅ Proof of CE required
Your renewal application must include proof of completion of the required 16 hours; applications without CE proof are considered incomplete and will not be processed.
This 16-hour online course is structured to meet all of those CE requirements in a single program, combining the mandated 8 hours of code with 8 hours of industry-related topics.
