β Who Should Take This Course?
- Nebraska licensed health, or sickness and accident, insurance producers
- Producers who intend to sell, solicit or negotiate long-term care insurance in Nebraska
- Agents entering the Nebraska Long-Term Care Partnership market for the first time
- Producers who have not yet completed the one-time eight-hour initial training
- Agents who advise Nebraska clients on Medicaid planning implications
- Nebraska producers who need long-term care credit toward the renewal total
β Does This Course Satisfy the State Requirement?
This course is designed to satisfy Nebraska's one-time initial long-term care training requirement, which Neb. Rev. Stat. 44-4521 sets at no less than eight hours. It does not satisfy the separate four-hour ongoing training that follows every twenty-four months, and it does not satisfy Nebraska's 3-hour ethics requirement. Both are available separately.
β Nebraska Continuing Education Requirements
Nebraska producers renew on a two-year cycle. The Department states that twenty-four hours is the maximum number of continuing education hours required for any license type combination, and that every licensee must complete a minimum of 3 hours of ethics in order to renew. Limited lines carry smaller totals.
- Up to 24 hours of continuing education per two-year renewal period, depending on your license type combination
- A minimum of 3 hours of ethics, required of every licensee
- Long-term care producers: a one-time initial training course of no less than 8 hours
- Long-term care producers: an ongoing training course of no less than 4 hours every 24 months thereafter
- Completions are uploaded by the provider; the Department will not accept certificates submitted by licensees
- Providers are allowed 10 days to upload, and renewal eligibility begins 24 hours after the upload posts
How this course helps: This 8-hour course is designed to satisfy Nebraska's one-time initial long-term care training requirement in full, and the same 8 hours count toward your renewal total β up to 24 hours depending on your license type combination. It does not cover the 3-hour ethics requirement, and it does not replace the 4-hour ongoing long-term care training due every 24 months thereafter.
β When Do Nebraska Licensees Renew?
Nebraska producer licenses run on a two-year cycle. The renewal window opens 90 days before your expiration date, but it opens only after your education requirements have been met. Because the Department makes you eligible 24 hours after your completion is uploaded, and providers are allowed up to 10 days to upload, finishing your continuing education well before the deadline is the difference between renewing comfortably and renewing in a hurry. Check your own license record for your exact expiration date.
β How to Renew Your Nebraska License
- Confirm your license type and expiration date β Sign in to your Nebraska Department of Insurance record and check your license type combination, status, expiration date and the hours already on file.
- Complete the initial long-term care training β Finish this 8-hour course before you sell, solicit or negotiate long-term care insurance. Nebraska treats it as a one-time requirement.
- Complete your remaining hours and your ethics β Finish the balance of your renewal total, including the minimum 3 hours of ethics that every licensee must have.
- Allow time for the upload to post β 1st Choice CE uploads your completion for you. Providers have up to 10 days, and eligibility begins 24 hours after the upload posts.
- Renew through the Department β Once your education is on file, the renewal window opens 90 days before expiration. Complete the renewal and pay the fee shown on your renewal notice.
- Verify the result β Save your receipt and confirm your license record shows an active status with the updated expiration date.

Integrating long-term care with retirement and estate planning, including realistic funding sources. Covers affordability levers such as adjusting benefit period, daily benefit and elimination period; household and caregiver considerations including respite benefits; plain-language trade-off discussions; responses to post-issue health changes; and building an annual review cadence.
Hour 8 β State Nuances, Advertising and Market Conduct, and Capstone Case Studies
