This 7 Hour online course meets all IDFPR requirements for Cosmetologists to renew their license in Illinois. This course covers Hair Styling Techniques, Chemical Makeup, Sanitation, Marketing, Management, and HR/Communication Skills. Illinois Requirements for Cosmetology License Renewal

In Illinois, Cosmetologists must obtain 14 credit hours in order to renew their license before expiration. However, only 7 of these credit hours may be obtained using an online provider.

To renew your cosmetology license in Illinois, follow these steps:

1. Visit the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation website.
2. Click on the "License Renewals" button.
3. Follow the online instructions for "Renewals for Individuals" and choose "Online Credit Card Renewals."
4. Please allow 2-4 business days for your license to appear in their systems and for your license status to be updated.

Your cosmetologist license in Illinois needs to be renewed every two years. Notably, you are exempt from the continuing education requirements during your first renewal cycle after receiving your initial license.

Illinois requires cosmetologists to complete 14 CEU (Continuing Education Units) hours every two years to maintain their licensure. You can conveniently complete these continuing education courses online through an approved provider such as 1st Choice CE.
