β Does This Course Satisfy the State Requirement?
This package is built to provide all 24 hours a Florida public adjuster generally completes each compliance period, in the split the state requires.
It includes the mandatory 4-hour Law and Ethics Update for public adjusters, authority 5-320. This is the version of the update course tied to the 3-20 license, and no elective course can be substituted for it.
It includes 20 elective hours drawn from approved Florida property and claim-adjusting courses.
It does not satisfy the requirement for an all lines adjuster license. If you hold a 6-20, 5-20 or 70-20 license, the update course you need is authority 5-620, not 5-320, and you should use our 24-Hour All Lines Adjuster CE Package instead.
If you qualify for an hour reduction based on how long you have been licensed, you may need fewer hours than this package provides. Check your CE Status in MyProfile and confirm your exact requirement before you buy.
Do not buy this package if you have already completed one of these courses for credit within the past two years. Florida will not count the same course twice in the same period. Buy the remaining courses individually instead.
β Florida Public Adjuster Continuing Education Requirements
Florida public adjusters complete continuing education on a 24-month compliance period. The standard requirement is 24 total hours, split between one mandatory update course specific to the license held and a block of electives. Under section 626.2815, Florida Statutes, the update course is required every compliance period and cannot be replaced by elective hours. For public adjusters, elective coursework must relate to property and claim adjusting.
| Hours | Requirement | In this package |
|---|---|---|
| 4 hours | Law and Ethics Update for public adjusters (authority 5-320), required every compliance period | Included |
| 20 hours | Elective continuing education in property and claim adjusting | Included |
| 24 hours | Standard total per compliance period | Included |
- Licensed 6 or more years: the elective requirement is reduced to 16 hours, for a 20-hour total. The 4-hour update course is still required.
- Licensed 25 or more years and holding a CLU or CPCU designation or an approved insurance degree: the elective requirement is reduced to 6 hours, for a 10-hour total.
- Workers' compensation and health insurance public adjusters are exempt from the continuing education requirement under section 626.2815, Florida Statutes.
- Reductions are applied to the elective category only. Your own CE Status in MyProfile is what controls.
How this package helps: This package provides all 24 hours, including the mandatory 4-hour Law and Ethics Update for public adjusters (authority 5-320) and 20 elective hours in property and claim adjusting. For a 3-20 licensee on the standard 24-hour requirement, it covers the full compliance period with nothing left outstanding. It does not apply to the all lines adjuster requirement, which uses authority 5-620.
β When Do Licensees Renew?
Florida insurance licenses do not expire on a printed date the way a certificate does. The license stays in force as long as you meet your continuing education requirement by your compliance date and keep your appointments current.
Your first compliance period is a full 24 months from the date you were licensed. Your due date is the last day of your birth month, and it repeats every two years after that. For example, a licensee licensed in July 2024 with a June birth month would have a compliance period starting July 1, 2025 and a due date of June 30, 2027.
Your exact due date, the hours required of you, and the hours already posted to your record are shown in the CE Status section of MyProfile on the Department's website. That record is the authority, not a course catalog.
If you miss the due date, the Department issues a Preliminary Notice of Non-Compliance and a Settlement Stipulation roughly 45 days later. Unresolved non-compliance leads to cancelled appointments. Finishing early is the simplest way to avoid all of it.
β How to Renew Your Florida Public Adjuster License
- Confirm what you actually owe. Sign in to MyProfile and open CE Status. Confirm your license type, your due date, your total required hours, and which of them are already posted.
- Make sure the update course matches your license. A 3-20 public adjuster needs the Law and Ethics Update under authority 5-320. An update course taken under a different authority posts as an elective and leaves the mandatory line unsatisfied.
- Complete your hours before the due date. Finish all required hours before the last day of your birth month in your compliance year. Hours completed after the period closes do not repair it.
- Allow time for the credit to post. Providers have 21 days to report a completion to the Department. 1st Choice CE reports within 24 hours, but do not leave your last course for the final day of the period.
- Check CE Status again after you finish. Go back into MyProfile and confirm the hours posted and that your requirement shows as satisfied. Keep your certificates in case the Department asks for them.
- Keep your appointments and contact information current. Continuing education keeps you compliant, but your appointments and your address of record are what keep you able to work. Update them in MyProfile whenever they change.

β Frequently Asked Questions
Is this package approved by the state of Florida?
Yes. All seven courses are individually approved by the Florida Department of Financial Services and are reported under provider number 374697. Each course approval number is listed in the Course Content Overview above.
How many CE hours does a Florida 3-20 public adjuster need?
The standard requirement is 24 hours per 24-month compliance period: a 4-hour Law and Ethics Update plus 20 elective hours. Licensees with longer tenure may qualify for a reduced elective requirement.
Is this the right package for my license type?
It is, if you hold a 3-20 public adjuster license. The Law and Ethics Update in this package is the public adjuster version, authority 5-320. If you hold a 6-20, 5-20 or 70-20 all lines adjuster license, you need authority 5-620 instead.
What happens if I take the wrong Law and Ethics Update?
It posts to your record as an elective instead of satisfying the mandatory update line. You end up with the right number of elective hours and a requirement that still shows as unmet. This is the most common reason a licensee finishes their hours and is still reported as short.
Can elective hours replace the Law and Ethics Update?
No. Florida requires the update course that matches the license you hold every compliance period, and no elective can be substituted for it.
Does this package cover my entire renewal requirement?
For a 3-20 licensee on the standard 24-hour requirement, yes. If your record shows a reduced requirement because of how long you have been licensed, you will have more hours than you need, which does no harm but is more than you have to buy.
What if I have been licensed 6 years or more?
Your elective requirement drops from 20 hours to 16, for a 20-hour total. The 4-hour update course is still required. Call or text us at 1-800-698-2770 and we will put together the shorter set.
Is the course fully online?
Yes. Every course is 100% online and self-paced. There is no classroom attendance and no scheduled session to join.
Can I stop and come back later?
Yes. You can log in and out as often as you need and your progress is saved in each course. You do not have to finish a course in one sitting.
Is there a final exam?
Yes, one per course, with a passing score of 70%. If you do not pass, you may retake the exam.
When do I get my certificate?
Your certificate is emailed immediately after you pass each course, and a copy stays in your account.
Does 1st Choice CE report my hours, or do I report them myself?
We report them. 1st Choice CE submits your completion to the Florida Department of Financial Services within 24 hours. Florida allows providers 21 days, so we are well inside the window. You do not need to send your certificates to the Department unless they ask for them.
When is my CE due?
Your due date is the last day of your birth month, in the year your 24-month compliance period ends. Check CE Status in MyProfile for your exact date.
Do I have to take the courses in order?
No. All seven courses are in your account as soon as you buy the package, and you can take them in any order.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
Yes. If the package is not what you needed, contact us at 1-800-698-2770 and we will make it right.
