β Does This Course Satisfy the State Requirement?
This package is built to cover the 10 hours a Florida industrial fire licensee generally completes each compliance period, in the split the state requires, with one extra elective hour included.
It includes the mandatory 4-hour Law and Ethics Update under authority 5-220, which is the update course the Department lists for the 2-33 license. No elective course can be substituted for it.
It includes 7 elective hours against a 6-hour elective requirement. The extra hour does no harm β Florida records the hours you complete.
It does not satisfy the requirement for a 2-20 general lines or 20-44 personal lines license. Those licensees need 20 or 24 hours depending on how long they have been licensed, and should use our General Lines and Personal Lines CE packages instead.
If your own record shows a different requirement, your record controls. Check your CE Status in MyProfile before you buy.
Do not buy this package if you have already completed one of these courses for credit within the past two years. Florida will not count the same course twice in the same period.
β Florida Industrial Fire Continuing Education Requirements
Florida industrial fire licensees complete continuing education on a 24-month compliance period. The Department lists a 10-hour total for the 2-33 license: a 4-hour update course specific to the license held, plus elective hours. Under section 626.2815, Florida Statutes, the update course is required every compliance period and cannot be replaced by elective hours.
This is a much smaller requirement than the 24 hours a 2-20 general lines agent completes, which is why a 2-33 licensee who buys an agent package pays for hours the state never asked for.
| Hours | Requirement | In this package |
|---|---|---|
| 4 hours | Law and Ethics Update (authority 5-220), required every compliance period | Included |
| 6 hours | Elective continuing education | 7 hours included |
| 10 hours | Standard total per compliance period | 11 hours included |
- Your compliance period is a full 24 months and your due date is the last day of your birth month, repeating every two years after that.
- Hour reductions based on how long you have been licensed are applied to the elective category only. The 4-hour update course is always required.
- If you add a 2-20 general lines license, your requirement changes to the agent requirement. Confirm it in MyProfile for the period in which you add it.
- Your CE Status in MyProfile is the authority on what you owe, not a course catalog.
How this package helps: This package provides 11 hours against a 10-hour requirement: the mandatory 4-hour Law and Ethics Update (authority 5-220) plus 7 elective hours in residential property and flood coverage. For a 2-33 licensee on the standard requirement, it covers the full compliance period with nothing left outstanding. It does not apply to the 2-20 general lines or 20-44 personal lines requirement, which is 20 or 24 hours.
β When Do Licensees Renew?
Florida insurance licenses do not expire on a printed date the way a certificate does. The license stays in force as long as you meet your continuing education requirement by your compliance date and keep your appointments current.
Your first compliance period is a full 24 months from the date you were licensed. Your due date is the last day of your birth month, and it repeats every two years after that. For example, a licensee licensed in July 2024 with a June birth month would have a compliance period starting July 1, 2025 and a due date of June 30, 2027.
Your exact due date, the hours required of you, and the hours already posted to your record are shown in the CE Status section of MyProfile on the Department's website. That record is the authority, not a course catalog.
If you miss the due date, the Department issues a Preliminary Notice of Non-Compliance and a Settlement Stipulation roughly 45 days later. Unresolved non-compliance leads to cancelled appointments. Finishing early is the simplest way to avoid all of it.
β How to Renew Your Florida Industrial Fire License
- Confirm what you actually owe. Sign in to MyProfile and open CE Status. Confirm your license type, your due date, your total required hours, and which of them are already posted. A 2-33 licensee should see a 10-hour requirement, not 24.
- Make sure the update course matches your license. Industrial fire licensees take the Law and Ethics Update under authority 5-220. An update course taken under a different authority posts as an elective and leaves the mandatory line unsatisfied.
- Complete your hours before the due date. Finish all required hours before the last day of your birth month in your compliance year. Hours completed after the period closes do not repair it.
- Allow time for the credit to post. Providers have 21 days to report a completion to the Department. 1st Choice CE reports within 24 hours, but do not leave your last course for the final day of the period.
- Check CE Status again after you finish. Go back into MyProfile and confirm the hours posted and that your requirement shows as satisfied. Keep your certificates in case the Department asks for them.
- Keep your appointments and contact information current. Continuing education keeps you compliant, but your appointments and your address of record are what keep you able to work. Update them in MyProfile whenever they change.

β Frequently Asked Questions
Is this package approved by the state of Florida?
Yes. All three courses are individually approved by the Florida Department of Financial Services and are reported under provider number 374697. Each course approval number is listed in the Course Content Overview above.
How many CE hours does a Florida 2-33 industrial fire licensee need?
The Department lists a 10-hour requirement per 24-month compliance period: a 4-hour Law and Ethics Update plus elective hours. That is less than half what a 2-20 general lines agent completes.
Why does this package contain 11 hours instead of 10?
The courses come in 4-hour and 3-hour blocks, so the closest fit above the requirement is 11 hours. The extra hour costs you nothing and does no harm β Florida simply records the hours you complete.
Is the Law and Ethics Update in this package the right one for my license?
Yes. Industrial fire licensees take the general lines version, authority 5-220, which is the course included here.
I hold a 2-20 general lines license. Can I use this package?
No. A 2-20 agent needs 20 or 24 hours depending on how long they have been licensed. Use our General Lines and Personal Lines CE package instead.
Can elective hours replace the Law and Ethics Update?
No. Florida requires the update course that matches the license you hold every compliance period, and no elective can be substituted for it.
Does this package cover my entire renewal requirement?
For a 2-33 licensee on the standard 10-hour requirement, yes. If your CE Status shows something different, your record controls.
Why are the electives property courses?
A 2-33 industrial fire license is a property line, so the electives were chosen to match the coverage you work with: homeowners and residential property, and the National Flood Insurance Program.
Is the course fully online?
Yes. Every course is 100% online and self-paced. There is no classroom attendance and no scheduled session to join.
Can I stop and come back later?
Yes. You can log in and out as often as you need and your progress is saved in each course.
Is there a final exam?
Yes, one per course, with a passing score of 70%. If you do not pass, you may retake the exam.
When do I get my certificate?
Your certificate is emailed immediately after you pass each course, and a copy stays in your account.
Does 1st Choice CE report my hours, or do I report them myself?
We report them. 1st Choice CE submits your completion to the Florida Department of Financial Services within 24 hours. Florida allows providers 21 days, so we are well inside the window.
When is my CE due?
Your due date is the last day of your birth month, in the year your 24-month compliance period ends. Check CE Status in MyProfile for your exact date.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
Yes. If the package is not what you needed, contact us at 1-800-698-2770 and we will make it right.
