βœ… Does This Course Satisfy the Florida Requirement?

This course is designed to satisfy the 1-hour Cementitious Cladding, Stucco, Plastering and Lath (CCSPL) subject required by Florida Administrative Code Rule 61G4-18.001 for licensees holding a general, building, residential, or specialty structure contractor license.

It provides 1 of the 14 hours required each renewal cycle. It does not satisfy the full 14-hour requirement by itself, and it does not cover the other mandatory subjects such as Workplace Safety, Workers' Compensation, Business Practices, Laws and Rules, Wind Mitigation, or the Advanced Building Code module.

This course is sold separately and is not currently part of our 14-hour Florida contractor renewal packages.

βœ… Florida Contractor Continuing Education Requirements

Florida certified and registered contractors must complete 14 hours of continuing education each two-year renewal cycle from a Board-approved provider. Hours may be completed in a classroom or through approved interactive distance learning, so fully online courses count. Each renewal must include 1 hour in each of the following subjects:

  • Advanced Building Code module (approved by the Florida Building Commission or the Board) – 1 hour
  • Workplace Safety – 1 hour
  • Business Practices – 1 hour
  • Workers' Compensation – 1 hour
  • Laws and Rules – 1 hour
  • Wind Mitigation – 1 hour (general, building, residential, roofing, specialty structure, and glass and glazing licenses)
  • Cementitious Cladding, Stucco, Plastering and Lath (CCSPL) – 1 hour (general, building, residential, and specialty structure licenses)
  • General hours – the remaining hours needed to reach 14

The Board is enforcing the CCSPL hour starting with registered contractor licenses that expire August 31, 2027, and certified contractor licenses that expire August 31, 2028. If your license is in one of the four required categories, plan for the CCSPL hour in your current cycle.

Approved providers report completions to the DBPR electronically. The DBPR may refuse to renew a license until all continuing education requirements are met, so confirm your hours on your license record before you renew.

How this course helps: This 1-hour course is designed to satisfy the 1-hour CCSPL subject requirement for Florida general, building, residential, and specialty structure contractors. It contributes 1 of the 14 total renewal hours; the remaining 13 hours, including the other mandatory subjects listed above, must be completed separately. Contractors in other license categories may use it as general credit.

βœ… When Do Florida Contractors Renew?

Florida contractor licenses renew every two years and expire on August 31. Certified contractor licenses expire on August 31 of even-numbered years, and registered contractor licenses expire on August 31 of odd-numbered years.

Your continuing education must be completed before your license expires. Check the expiration date shown on your license record at MyFloridaLicense.com, and finish your hours early so reporting is complete before you renew.

  1. Confirm your license record. Look up your license on MyFloridaLicense.com and confirm your license type, status, expiration date, and the CE hours already reported.
  2. Complete all 14 hours. Finish the full 14 hours, including each required 1-hour subject, before your license expiration date.
  3. Allow time for reporting. 1st Choice CE reports your completion to the DBPR within 24 hours. Give reporting time to post before you submit your renewal.
