β Who Should Take This Course?
- Arizona licensed resident insurance producers renewing a license with accident and health authority
- Producers who need 4 approved hours toward the 48-hour Arizona requirement
- Agents who want current, practical knowledge of these coverages β not filler credit
- New producers building a working foundation in this coverage area
- Experienced agents refreshing before a renewal deadline
- Agency staff who support producers and want the same technical grounding
β Does This Course Satisfy the State Requirement?
This course provides 4 approved credit hours toward the 48-hour Arizona continuing education requirement. It does not by itself satisfy the full renewal requirement, and it does not satisfy the 6-hour ethics requirement. Arizona requires 48 hours over a four-year license period β substantially more than most states β so plan the full period rather than assuming a 24-hour cycle.
β Arizona Continuing Education Requirements
Arizona is the outlier among producer CE states, and getting the math wrong is expensive. Arizona licenses run on a four-year cycle rather than the usual two, and A.R.S. Β§ 20-2902 requires at least 48 credit hours, including at least 6 credit hours of ethics training, for each license period. That is roughly double what a producer in a neighboring state completes, so agents who plan on a two-year rhythm routinely arrive at renewal short. Arizona also treats its ethics minimum as 6 hours, not 3, and courses may not simply be repeated to fill the total.
- 48 credit hours of Arizona-approved continuing education per four-year license period
- At least 6 of those hours must be ethics training β double the 3-hour minimum most states use
- The license period is four years: individual licenses expire on the last day of the licensee's birth month, three to four years after issuance or renewal
- Renewal requires evidence of CE compliance along with the application and the quadrennial fee
- A license that lapses may be renewed within one year by paying the quadrennial fee plus a $100 late fee; after that it is treated as a new application
- Producers continuously licensed in Arizona since January 1, 1995 who have never held a non-resident license and have never been disciplined are exempt from the CE requirement
How this course helps: This 4-hour course provides 4 approved credit hours toward the 48 hours Arizona requires for each four-year license period. It applies as general credit and does not satisfy the separate 6-hour ethics requirement, so at least 44 additional hours β including your 6 ethics hours β must be completed separately.
β When Do Licensees Renew?
Arizona insurance producer licenses expire quadrennially. For an individual, the license expires on the last day of the licensee's birth month, between three and four years after the license was issued or last renewed; business entity licenses expire exactly four years after issuance or renewal. To renew before expiration you submit the renewal application, the prescribed fee, and evidence that you have complied with the continuing education requirement. If the license does expire, you have one year to renew by paying the quadrennial fee plus a $100 late fee β after that window an application is treated as a new license rather than a renewal.
β How to Renew Your License
Step 1: Confirm your expiration date and count your period correctly
Arizona licenses expire quadrennially on the last day of your birth month. Work out the full four-year window, not a two-year one.
Step 2: Check your posted hours against 48, including 6 ethics
Pull your CE record and compare it to the full 48-hour requirement. This is where most Arizona producers discover a gap.
Step 3: Fill the ethics gap first
Arizona requires 6 ethics hours, not 3. Ethics-approved courses are the constraint most likely to be short, so book them early.
Step 4: Complete the remaining general hours
Finish the balance of the 48 hours with Arizona-approved courses. Courses may not simply be repeated to pad the total.
Step 5: Allow reporting time before you renew
Give the provider time to report and the record time to update before you submit the renewal application.
Step 6: Submit the renewal application and pay the quadrennial fee
Renew before the expiration date, providing evidence of CE compliance with the application and fee.
Step 7: Verify the license is active and save your certificates
Confirm the record shows an active license with a new expiration date, and keep your certificates on file.
